Alberta Geothermal Energy Association
In various places in Canada, particularly in Alberta, there are a number of houses and commercial buildings with their own heating systems that control the structure’s temperature, especially during extremely hot or extremely cold days or months. These mechanisms make use of geothermal and other sources of heat energy.
Talk about geothermal energy in Alberta, Canada, we couldn’t fail to mention the Alberta Geothermal Energy Association or AGEA.
What is the Alberta Geothermal Energy Association?
The Alberta Geothermal Energy Association or AGEA is an association of companies and individuals who are into geothermal systems, particularly geothermal heat pumps. The members of this association are usually involved in geothermal heat pump installation, supply, and design.
Mission
AGEA works for a future where people and industries have broken free from dependence on non-renewable forms of energy. It pushes the use of renewable energy sources, particularly geothermal energy, and promotes the use of geothermal heat pump systems in Alberta.
The association enacts its mission by initiating public awareness on the benefits of geothermal energy, providing quality technical training to people in Alberta, continually developing installation standards, and exercising overall excellence in all other operations in relation to geothermal heat pumps.
AGEA’s Technology
AGEA primarily deals with ground source heat pumps (GSHPs). These are mechanisms for absorbing solar energy on the earth’s outer surface and waters. Powered by electricity, these mechanical systems make use of that solar energy in heating, cooling, and producing hot water for households, commercial buildings, and other similar establishments. GSHPs are also capable of recycling and reusing other sources of heat energy such as sewage and industrial processes.
